Getting Lost

Yokohama Japan

Getting lost.
There is a saying in Japan.

Nanakorobi yaoki (七転び八起き), which means “fall seven timesstand up eight”, or that life will knock you down several times, but all you need to do to win is to stand up one time more.

Basically… never give up hope.

See Through My Eyes

Tokyo Japan

I have seen a lot. I have traveled extensively. I have a shit ton of photos.
I usually draw but lately, I have found a great interest in photos I have taken around the world, and it feels like a perfect time to start sharing.

I will be sharing here on my website along with my ClickASnap

Hinoki Mandala Sticker

Hinoki (wood/leaf): A member of the cypress family, this evergreen tree is often used in Japan for its energetic properties to comfort and soothe, allowing us to move through suffering to find strength.

Hinoki is also referred to as forest bathing in Japan.

This Hinoki sticker was designed by Heather Dettmann and you can now purchase it here

Happy Holidays from South Carolina

Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday. I am in South Carolina with my dad and stepmom this holiday. It’s been well over 15 years since I’ve spent a Christmas with them so I am grateful to be here. 2020 has been an odd bean so hang in there and keep going. It’s important to get some body movement in and drink a lot of water during the holidays. It’s easy to feel all sorts of emotions during the holidays so be sure to take the time to love yourself so you can have the energy to love others. Rest when needed. Much love from my heart to yours.

Saturn/Jupiter Great Conjunction Mandala

I created this the night of the great conjunction. It was a beautiful site to see over the Atlantic Ocean.

A bit about me

Every day is a fresh start for you. Every sunrise is a new chapter in your life waiting to be written.

Somewhere in Illinois. December 17,2020

Hello my friends! I’m currently traveling by car across the United States. I haven’t been on a US road trip since my 20’s! It’s mega inspiring!

A bit about me… I was born and raised in Chicago Illinois. It’s been about 12 years since I’ve been in Illinois and this morning I woke up at a rest stop in my home state. I have traveled the United States and the world extensively and I’ve been living in Japan for 13 years. In March of 2020 I decided it was time to leave Japan to come home to create another opportunity for my two children while they continue their amazing education in Japan. Not an easy decision but I knew it was what I needed to do for my and their well-being. Covid has kept me from doing much since landing here but I’ve certainly made the most of it by spending a lot of time in nature this year. My children, nature, and body movement inspire me to keep going, keep focused, and to keep creating mandala designs.

I have been drawing and studying mandala art since 1999. I’ve studied with several well known mandala teachers around the world including Judith Cornell Ph. D. the award-winning author of MANDALA:Luminous Symbols for Healing.

I take this moment to thank all of you for liking and sharing my new Facebook page. Please have a look and follow me here. I look forward to sharing and teaching about mandala art in 2021 and beyond.
